OPM Launches Job Search, Operating Status Apps
Goal is to broaden the reach of the USAJOBS website.
The Office of Personnel Management on Thursday announced a new Android app and improved iOS app for its USAJOBS website, as well as a new application programming interface to help broaden the reach of USAJOBS.
The new USAJOBS Android app and improved iOS app enable users to search for and save job listings and receive updates on applications and job search agents. The app also enables users to share what they find on USAJOBS on popular social networking sites or via email.
The new USAJOBS API will stream data to developers in hopes of broadening the reach of USAJOBS to commercial job boards, mobile apps and social media outlets that are interested in receiving and promoting federal job opportunities. OPM will provide the API in two formats to ensure the data is openly accessible. Users of the API will be able to receive up to 5,000 jobs per request.
Meanwhile, OPM on Thursday also launched a new operating status app that provides a real-time look at the current operating status for federal offices in the Washington, D.C,. area. OPM also launched a set of operating status APIs to help organizations and agencies make full use of operating status data.
