DISA's Bring Your Own Device Plan Unveiled

The Defense Information Systems Agency envisions a bring-your-own-gadget mobile strategy for military users on unclassified networks, according to a slide set from its annual partners conference in Tampa, Fla., this week.

The slides also show that DISA is in the midst of testing secure versions of Android, Apple and Blackberry gizmos. The tests are slated for completion within the next year, but alas no dates were given.

End users of both classified and unclassified networks will be able to tap into a Defense Department mobile apps store, the briefing slides disclosed. This is confirmation that DISA and Defense are real serious about development of an end-to-end mobile computing service.
