A More Social State of the Union
This year’s address will include numerous social media components.
The White House digital team is adding a social layer on top of President Obama’s State of the Union address again this year.
As it did last year, the administration will stream an enhanced version of the State of the Union address on its website and on Facebook and Google+ that includes graphics, statistics and other data that back up the president’s policy proposals.
The team will also livestream a panel discussion of White House subject matter experts immediately following the president’s address who will answer questions posted to Twitter, Vine, Facebook, Google+ and Instagram using the hash tag #SOTUChat.
Later this week the president will answer questions submitted via Google+ and YouTube during a series of Google+ hangouts the White House is billing as a “virtual road trip.” People can submit questions in advance of the address using the hash tag #AskObama2014.
