NIH awards ACES task order for digital grant system
The National Institutes of Health this week awarded the first task order under the General Services Administration's Access Certificates for Electronic Services digital signature contract for an online grant application system.
The National Institutes of Health this week awarded the first task order under the General Services Administration's Access Certificates for Electronic Services digital signature contract for an online grant application system.
The award is the first under the ACES contract, a governmentwide contract established by GSA to provide a way for agencies to procure pre-approved commercial-off-the-shelf public-
key infrastructure products and services. GSA awarded the contract to teams led by Digital Signature Trust Co., AT&T and Operational Research Consultants Inc. in August 1999.
As part of the task order, Digital Signature Trust Co. will design a system that will enable the NIH Office of Extramural Research to accept digitally signed grant applications. The system, which is part of the agency's Electronic Research Administration initiative, will have to be able to handle online registration, digital certificates issuance, and certificate validation, renewal and revocation.
NIH also is looking to have the grant system work with the FedCommons and Access America for Students programs, both of which involve online financial applications.
