CDW-G adds Apple to its cart

Government technology users who prefer Apple Computer Inc. products now

have another way to procure those machines — CDW-G Inc. recently added Apple's

entire line to its General Services Administration schedule.

"Inherently, Apple products are not as commonplace as the everyday PC, but

there are a lot of government groups in certain agencies and that's the

product line they prefer...and those niches need to get served," said Larry

Kirsch, senior vice president at Vernon Hills, Ill.-based CDW-G.

Engineering applications and graphic design are two areas in which Apple

machines have proven to be popular in the government, Kirsch said.

"Certainly they are not for everyone, but there are standards in some agencies

that [Apple products] are very functional for," he said.
