Under the share-in-savings agreement between the Education Department's Office of Student Financial Assistance Programs and Accenture, the company developed a plan to shut down OSFAP's Central Data System, which had 12 basic functions within the agency's Direct Loan Program. Five functions were deemed duplicative and were eliminated completely, and the remaining seven were transferred to loan-servicing and loan-origination systems. CDS was shut down on Nov. 18, with no downtime to the Direct Loan Program.
