Sandia picks firewall product

The Energy Department's Sandia National Laboratories recently bought SecureLogix Corp.'s TeleWall telecom firewall for its laboratories in Albuquerque, N.M., and Livermore, Calif.

The firewall is part of the telecommunications security, audit and management applications in SecureLogix's Enterprise Telephony Management (ETM) platform. TeleWall secures telephony and data network through a rule-based security policy. The system was installed and tested on Sandia's voice network.

Sandia collaborated with the Air Force to examine emerging technologies that secure converging voice and data networks, and TeleWall was among the products tested.

Lee Sutterfield, president of SecureLogix, said the partnership between the company and Sandia represents the "synergy that is needed to develop innovations to help defend data networks from information warfare attacks in both the federal and commercial sectors."

As a result of this collaboration, other Energy sites are pursuing ETM system implementations, and NASA is already a SecureLogix customer, according to the company.
