Mint buys seat management

The U.S. Mint has awarded a contract to Getronics Government Solutions LLC for operations support, including seat management and data and voice communications networks.

The performance-based contract is valued at up to $11.8 million for fiscal 2002, with four option years to follow. Getronics is partnering with Soza & Co. Ltd. and Prime Performance Technologies Inc. to provide the service.

The contract includes seat management for 2,100 seats, according to George Vaveris, Getronics' vice president of civilian operations for U.S. Treas.ury Department operations. The companies also will provide infrastructure support for the Mint, including a help desk, desktop support and data-center services, as well as personal digital assistants, servers and distributed computing software.

GSA adds FreeBalance

The General Services Administration has awarded a spot on its schedule contract to FreeBalance Inc. for the company's eGrants and eFinancials products.

EGrants automates the awarding of government contracts, monitors financial transactions for the duration of the contract and analyzes the attainment of program goals. It is the first FreeBalance product to use peer-to-peer technology.

Sandia picks firewall

The Energy Department's Sandia National Laboratories recently bought SecureLogix Corp.'s TeleWall Telecom Firewall for its laboratories in Albuquerque, N.M., and Livermore, Calif.

TeleWall is part of the security, audit and management applications in SecureLogix's Enterprise Telephony Management (ETM) platform. TeleWall secures telephony and data networks through a rules-based security policy. The system was installed and tested on Sandia's voice network.
