CSC to aid refugee processing center

The State Department has awarded a $43.7 million task order to Computer Sciences Corp. to aid with the operation of the department's refugee processing center in Arlington, Va.

CSC will provide management, training and operational support for the Washington Processing Center and will help with the State Department's program to resettle refugees. The seven-year contract was awarded through the General Services Administration's Applications 'n Support for Widely Diverse End-User Requirements (Answer).

"CSC is proud to aid the [State Department's Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration] in its humanitarian mission," said Bob Kennedy, vice president of government enterprise services at CSC.

"Our work reaches beyond simply supporting a program and its systems," Kennedy said. "It touches lives turned upside down by tragedies of persecution and political unrest."

A team of 40 computer, software and telecommunications specialists will perform the work. Teaming with CSC are SI International Inc. and Centech Group Inc. Both companies have extensive experience in refugee processing projects.
