Firms to connect A.F. image library

Flexible Acquisition and Sustainment Tool program

The Air Force announced this week that it has selected a team of vendors for a three-year, $12 million contract to support connectivity for its Image Product Library (IPL), a program for accessing images and maps from multiple locations.

Lockheed Martin Integrated Systems is the prime contractor on this delivery order under the Flexible Acquisition and Sustainment Tool (FAST) contract. The company picked Adroit Systems Inc., ACI and Intergraph Government Solutions — a systems integration and management consulting firm — as its subcontractors.

The FAST team will:

* Conduct site surveys and analysis.

* Plan the network.

* Support network security certification and accreditation.

* Help install and upgrade the network infrastructure.

* Support logistics and maintenance for the IPL communications system.

Intergraph will perform more than 50 percent of the survey, analysis and maintenance and provide access to materials and product expertise through preferred partner/vendor relationships with Cisco Systems Inc., Hewlett-Packard Co. and others.

The projected value of Intergraph's portion of the work is more than $5.8 million, said Mike Brashear, executive manager of the Defense Department business unit at the Huntsville, Ala.-based firm. The IPL connectivity project is the first competitive order awarded under FAST, a five-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract awarded to six contract teams to provide acquisition and sustainment support through engineering, technical advisory, configuration management and other services.

In addition to Lockheed, the other five FAST primes are Boeing Aerospace Operations, Science Applications International Corp., Technical and Management Services Corp., Modern Technologies Corp. and Support Systems Associated Inc. If fully extended, the contract is worth $7.4 billion.
