BioShield gets House OK

The House approved $5.6 billion July 16 for Project BioShield to research, produce and stockpile vaccines and antidotes to bioterrorism.

The bill would help expedite development and availability of next-generation countermeasures against biological, chemical, nuclear and radiological weapons.

The Senate version of the homeland security appropriations bill does not include money for the project, which President Bush supports.
