Justice to use AMS system

The Justice Department awarded American Management Systems Inc. a $24 million contract for an integrated financial management and procurement system, company officials announced today.

Fairfax, Va.-based AMS will provide its Web-enabled enterprise resource planning Momentum suite for Justice's Unified Financial Management System. The software will allow for integration between the department's finance and the procurement components, eliminating redundant processes and speeding up the time to acquire goods and services, AMS officials said.

Justice's financial management system will provide real-time access to information and program performance reports while ensuring internal controls and security, officials said. Using AMS' software, the department will meet federal financial management standards, company officials said.

Specifically, the Justice Department will be using AMS' Financial Plus, Performance Budgeting, Project Cost Accounting, Travel Accounting, Business Analytics, Acquisitions and Vendor Self Service.

Justice's financial management system would get a proposed budget boost for fiscal 2005 of $126.7 million, up from $73.9 million in 2004.
