Optimus lands EPA contract
The company will provide information services and distribution for Climate Protection Partnerships Division programs.
Optimus Corp. won a $2.7 million contract to provide information and distribution services to support the Environmental Protection Agency's Climate Protection Partnerships programs.
The contract represents a four-year extension of the original four-year contract and has the potential for additional extensions. The EPA started the climate-protection initiatives in 1990, after Congress amended the Clean Air Act and passed the Pollution Prevention Act. Those laws give the EPA the authority and responsibility to stop pollution by reducing the generation of pollutants at their points of origin.
Optimus, which specializes in public safety technology, will manage a call center and distribution center for the EPA. The facilities provide administrative support, manage communications and conferences, maintain hot lines, distribute and maintain materials, and develop related databases. The hot line averages 1,200 calls a month; however, total contacts — including calls, e-mail messages and faxes — average 1,500 per month.
