MPC gets Western States contract

The Western States Contracting Alliance, an association of state government purchasing agencies, awarded MPC Computers LLC a spot on the group's 2004-2007 contract, company officials announced.
WSCA harnesses the volume buying power of 15 states — all the states west of Texas, along with South Dakota and Minnesota — to buy computer systems and other technology projects.
MPC officials said the contract is a significant win, and is expected to account for $3 billion in business for its awardees over its three-year term. It goes into effect Sept. 1. The contract has a three-year base period and two one-year options.
Other awardees under the WSCA contract are: Apple Computer Inc., Dell Inc., Gateway Inc., Hewlett-Packard Co., Howard Computers, IBM Corp., Konica Minolta Printing Solutions, Kyocera Mita America Corp., Lexmark International Inc. and Xiotech Corp.
"We are extremely pleased and honored to be an awardee on this contract," said Michael Adkins, president and chief executive officer of MPC.
Gores Technology Group LLC, a holding company, owns MPC.
