Second draft Alliant RFP expected
GSA officials are reportedly planning to issue a second set of draft RFPs for the long-awaited Alliant contract.
General Services Administration officials are reportedly planning to issue a second set of draft requests for proposals for the long-awaited Alliant governmentwide acquisition contract and its Alliant Small Business companion.
John Johnson, the GSA official heading up the contract's development, plans to issue the second drafts and may revise the parameters of the contract. He announced the plan at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, according to industry representatives in the audience.
Johnson, assistant commissioner of service development and delivery at GSA's Federal Acquisition Service, has also spearheaded the development of Networx, a governmentwide network services contract to be awarded this summer. He took over Alliant in August 2005, but the contract had been in development for more than year before that. His first action was to halt ongoing work to reassess the progress so far.
GSA released its first set of draft RFPs in March 2005. Those came after more than a year of discussion between GSA and industry.
