Denett's nomination sent to Senate

The Bush administration has submitted Paul Denett's nomination to lead the Office of Federal Procurement Policy to the Senate for confirmation.

Many in the procurement community hailed the nomination of Denett, a longtime veteran of government procurement positions who later became vice president of contracting programs at ESI International, as a good move.

Senate confirmation is a necessary step for Denett to take the OFPP position.

The nomination, announced late last week, came shortly after the administration nominated Virginia businesswoman Lurita Alexis Doan to lead the General Services Administration. The administration also chose Rob Portman, a former Republican congressman from Ohio, to lead the Office of Management and Budget.

Those nominations also require Senate confirmation.
