N.C. picks BearingPoint for payroll system
Under the $28 million contract, the company will replace the state's human resources systems with a new one based on mySAP.
BearingPoint has captured a $28 million contract to modernize North Carolina’s human resources and payroll systems.
Under the two-year contract, BearingPoint will replace the state’s 30-year-old HR and payroll systems with a new system to be based on SAP’s mySAP product. The system will eliminate most paper forms and let state employees view and change personal information online, according to BearingPoint.
The project has been dubbed BEACON -- Building Enterprise Access for N.C.’s Core Operating Needs. The system will support more than 80,000 state workers. BearingPoint will be responsible for program management and system implementation.
This project follows a number of recent payroll-related systems contract wins for BearingPoint’s state and local group, according to a company spokesman. In June, it completed the first phase of a project to upgrade financial, HR and payroll systems in Arlington County, Va. In March, California awarded the company a $69 million contract to deploy a payroll and personnel system.
The Arlington County project involves Oracle’s E-Business Suite, while California’s payroll and personnel system will use SAP.
