Florida county chooses Oracle ERP system
Polk Oracle Web Enabled Resources automates business processes such as financial management, procurement and payroll management.
Polk County, Fla., has activated an Oracle-based enterprise resource planning installation.
The system, dubbed Polk Oracle Web Enabled Resources (POWER), is built on Oracle’s E-Business Suite. This system automates business processes such as financial management, procurement, inventory management, project and grants management, human resources management, and payroll management.
The suite deployment, which is running on a Linux platform, went into production Oct. 2. AST, a systems integrator and Oracle certified advantage partner, provided implementation services to the county.
POWER replaces the county’s previous system, the Governmental Accounting Financial Reporting System, which had been in use since 1987.
Oracle announced last month a suite deployment in St. Petersburg, Fla. The project activity in Florida stems from an increase in revenue from property and business taxes and the need to update aging systems that are costly to maintain, an Oracle spokeswoman said.
