Letter: Don't make gender a contracting issue
Giving women business owners special breaks is reverse discrimination, a reader says.
In regard to “Bush: Provisions in small-biz bill 'constitutionally suspect,'” I am offended as a woman contractor that an organization would try to back-door the bidding process by being the only bidder on projects just because the contractor is a woman. I call that reverse discrimination.
If we (women) are to operate in the real world of contracting, we need to do as the other successful firms have done. They have built their businesses and made a reputation, and they win contracts based on price and performance. Please do not make anatomy an issue in contracting.
