Acquisition employees get recognition

Officials give awards for managing programs and protecting soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.

• Deborah Erwin at the General Services Administration for providing support on numerous Federal Acquisition Regulation issues. The initiative publicly acknowledges the accomplishments of the workforce that gets few governmentwide congratulations, said Paul Denett, the administrator of OFFP. “By giving these well-deserved awards, I hope to not only recognize outstanding acquisition professionals for their contributions, but ensure their practices are available to the federal workforce,” he said.

The Office of Federal Procurement Policy has announced the winners of the 2008 Shine Initiative awards, a governmentwide recognition of work in the federal acquisition workforce.

This year's awards, announced Aug. 26, go to:

• The Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Team at the Defense Contract Management Agency for its response to the improvised explosive device threats to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. The team sped up how long it took to develop, build and deliver 5,000 armored vehicles to those countries.

• Patrick Quigley at the Defense Logistics Agency for his performance in program management.

• LaTonya Richardson at the Treasury Department for her accomplishments in buying green products.
