Mark Day, CTO at HUD, heads to GSA

GSA brings in new director to oversee governmentwide IT contracts and strategic solutions operations.

Mark Day, the chief technology officer at Department of Housing and Urban Development, is heading over to the General Services Administration.

Day will join the Integrated Technology Service at GSA as the director of strategic solutions. He will oversee the governmentwide acquisition contract program and the Center for Strategic Solutions and Security Services. Mary Davie, the assistant commissioner for ITS in GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service, made the announcement Nov. 8.

Day “brings a wealth of planning, IT and acquisition experience,” Davie wrote.

Day starts his new job Nov. 21.

Before HUD, Day was CTO and deputy CIO at the Environmental Protection Agency. He was CTO and vice president at McDonald Bradley, which was bought by ManTech in 2007.

He is also an adjunct professor of Information Management at George Mason University.

Day is a two-time Federal 100 award winner.
