GSA seeks manager for Schedule 70 IT contract

The leader of the General Services Administration's Federal Acquisition Service is looking for someone to fill some very large shoes at the agency's Schedule 70 program, the largest, most-widely used IT acquisition vehicle in the federal government.

Mary Davie, director of GSA' Office of Integrated Technology Services, tweeted on March 3 that the agency was in need of a "superstar exec" to head up the Schedule 70 program. She also promised to blog about what the agency was looking for in a candidate "in the next couple of days."

Kay Ely was promoted to deputy assistant commissioner of ITS, but will continue to oversee Schedule 70 until a replacement is hired.

GSA said in its Schedule 70 director job posting that it is looking inside its own ranks, at other federal agencies, and in the commercial sector to find top talent to fill the position. Applications close March 31.

On March 7, Davie also announced former Social Security Administration CIO Bill Zielinski as the agency's IT category executive.

Zielinski has been CIO at the Social Security Administration and had been tapped by the Office of Management and Budget Office last September to head the Agency Oversight Team that works with top technology officials across government on initiatives such as FedStat.
