VA makes awards in $22B IT contract

The Department of Veterans Affairs announced the award of 21 contracts with a ceiling value of $22.3 billion on its Twenty-One Total Technology Next Generation Acquisition program, dubbed T4NG.

"This T4NG award is one of the many ways the department is supporting the MyVA breakthrough initiatives by directly providing the technology that our veterans need to support the services they receive from VA,” VA Secretary Robert McDonald said in a March 8 statement. "The T4NG will help meet and strengthen VA’s long-term technology needs."

T4NG, "provides VA access to contractors uniquely qualified to meet the Veteran’s needs," VA Director of IT Strategic Communication Kai Miller told FCW. "This suite of contracts will provide solutions to support IT security, health IT, and telecommunications, including cloud mobility, cybersecurity support, mobile application development, and application development and sustainment."

Large firms on T4NG include Booz Allen Hamilton, Accenture Federal Services, IBM and others. In total, 10 Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses, two small businesses and nine large businesses were awarded these contracts. The goal is to boost the strategic partnership between the public and private sector.

The T4NG Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity Multiple Award Task Order contract gives the 21 contractors the ability to bid on any T4NG requirements or task orders. The base ordering period for these contracts is five years with a single five-year option period.
