Time to break out the headphones.
Last year, Google introduced Google Go, a data-light search app designed for emerging markets. Now the company has made some improvements to it.
The tech giant announced Tuesday that the search app now has an artificial intelligence-powered ability to read web pages in 28 different languages. It uses minimal cellular data, so it can work on a 2G connection.
Google is also looking into bringing the function to other apps, TechCrunch reports.
So where does the AI come in?
"This technology relies on AI to determine which parts of a page to read, and which to leave out, so you only listen to what is important," Google says.
Though it wasn't designed with people with visual and reading impairments in mind, the feature could still prove useful for users dealing with those issues or for anyone who would rather listen to a story than read it.
