Program information

The National Security Agency and the Homeland Security Department have designated 10 more schools as National Centers of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education for the next three years.

They include:

• Boston University
• Dakota State University in South Dakota
• Kennesaw State University in Georgia
• Pace University in New York
• University of Detroit at Mercy
• University of North Texas
• University of Pittsburgh
• University of Texas at Dallas
• University of Washington
• West Chester University in Pennsylvania

The 10 universities bring the number of National Centers of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education to 59. NSA and DHS announced last month they would work together on educational initiatives to strengthen the country's computer infrastructure.

The National Security to Secure Cyberspace, issued in 2002 by the Bush administration, directs the government to promote training and education programs that support computer security needs and responsibilities, and improve existing information assurance programs.
