ManTech Nabs $10.5 million TSA Contract

ManTech International will provide analytical services to help the Transportation Security Administration evaluate non-U.S. citizens requesting flight instruction in the United States.

ManTech will assist TSA in reviewing alien flight school candidate applications, working with various databases to cross-reference and characterize potential risks, according to the company. The five-year contract is valued at $10.5 million.

Work on the contract will support TSA’s Alien Flight School Program, which aims to prevent terrorists from receiving pilot training from flight schools. Non-U.S. citizens must provide TSA with fingerprints, passport and visa information, and specific information on the type of flight training they plan to pursue, ManTech officials said.

The contract comes in the wake of the 2001 terrorist attacks when information was widely disclosed that some of the terrorist plane hijackers had taken flight lessons in the United States.
