SSCP wins ANSI accreditation

The Systems Security Certified Practitioner certification meets the International Organization for Standardization’s standard for certifying information security employees.

A popular security certification now meets the requirements for the Defense Department’s new information assurance standards, the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium announced today.

The American National Standards Institute has accredited the consortium’s Systems Security Certified Practitioner certification because it meets the International Organization for Standardization’s standard for certifying information security employees.

Under Directive 8570.1, approved last December, DOD requires its information assurance workers to have certifications accredited by the institute or its equivalents worldwide.

The consortium is a nonprofit education and training organization.

The institute has also approved the consortium’s Certified Information Systems Security Professional certification.
