To come, a BPA for credit counseling services

A blanket purchase agreement that would cover credit counseling services for people affected by a government loss of personal data would help future victims of identity and data theft, said Lurita Doan, administrator of the General Services Administration.

The idea is to create a BPA that the government would use in emergency situations such as the theft of a government laptop PC containing personal information on 26.5 million veterans.

The BPA would be highly selective and competitive, and GSA would negotiate a bulk purchase of credit-monitoring services for those directly affected by a data loss.

Doan said GSA has submitted the BPA proposal to the Office of Management and Budget for approval.
