Who's using wikis

The list of government wikis and the variety of purposes for which they are used continues to expand. The versatility of wikis’ freely editable Web pages makes them a great tool for the types of knowledge sharing and collaborative projects that government employees work on every day.

SUMMARY: This internal wiki lets agents and analysts share lessons learned, best practices and subject-matter expertise. It is a collaborative effort between FBI’s chief knowledge officer and chief technology officer.

NAME: Colab — Collaborative Work Environment
CREATOR: General Services Administration’s Office of Intergovernmental Solutions
SUMMARY: Colab provides wiki space that several intergovernmental groups have used, including the CIO Council’s Federal Data Architecture Subcommittee. The wikis can be public or private.

NAME: Diplopedia
CREATOR: State Department
SUMMARY: U.S. foreign affairs agencies use this internal wiki to share nonclassified information about diplomacy and international relations.
