Also in the News: National Cybersecurity Center chief steps down

Rod Beckstrom, the head of the Homeland Security Department’s National Cybersecurity Center, has tendered his resignation, according to the DorobekInsider blog at Federal News Radio.

In the March 5 letter, posted on the blog, Beckstrom notes that the center, which is responsible for coordinating cybersecurity efforts across the government, "did not receive appropriate support inside DHS during the last administration to fully realize" its role.

"We thank Rod for his service, and regret his departure, DHS spokeswoman Amy Kudwa told FCW. "The Department of Homeland Security has a strong relationship with the NSA, and continues to work in close collaboration with all of our federal partners on protecting federal civilian networks, and is fully engaged in the 60-day cybersecurity review being led by Ms. Hathaway. We look forward to our continued, positive working relationship with all our partners on outreach to the private sector as we strive to further secure our nation’s cyber networks."
