The Central Intelligence Agency is ramping up cybersecurity efforts with increased investments in technology, a move that the agency claims also will boost efficiency.
Information Week on Tuesday reported that the CIA has released its five-year strategy, known as CIA 2015. Technology is one of three key initiatives in the plan, which aims to help the agency act quickly and effectively to address terrorism, cyber threats and "dangerous technology." In particular, the agency will be investing in human-enabled technical collection and advanced software tools to manage large amounts of data.
Agencies involved in national security, like the Homeland Security Department, the National Security Agency and the CIA, must be particularly cautious about cyber threats. Since no major cybersecurity legislation is yet in place, according to the article, it is even more important that these agencies bring the focus back to protecting their systems from attacks.
