Senate leadership sent a letter to President Obama Thursday asking for his help in passing comprehensive cybersecurity legislation, though there was no specific mention of the bills currently moving through Congress.

The letter was signed by Sens. Harry Reid, D-Nev., Carl Levin, D-Mich., John Rockefeller IV, D-W.Va., Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., John Kerry, D-Mass., and Joe Lieberman, I-Conn, all of whom chair important committees in the Senate.

"The complexity and expansive reach of cyber space demand a comprehensive, whole-of-government approach to its security," the senators wrote. "We must ensure that the federal government is organized and integrated to facilitate cross-government coordination, broad situational awareness, and agile, effective responses to cyber threats."

The Senate is making its push toward the finish line. But the letter is the most public recognition I've seen that the White House needs to get more involved. The sooner the better. You can read the entire letter here.
