Gary "Gus" Guissanie
Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Cyber, Identity and Information Assurance
Defense Department
When WikiLeaks dumped a huge load of classified information online last year, DOD officials quickly began the hunt for an answer to the insider threat and its implications for information security. It was lucky that Gus Guissanie was around.
Any solution to the leaks required using complex technology while allowing people to continue sharing information. Guissanie, who is equally at home with the technology and policy requirements of the job, became the linchpin for discussions between DOD, the White House’s National Security Staff, intelligence agencies and other interested parties.
Guissanie’s leadership facilitated the accelerated deployment of solutions to guard against future insider threats at the department.
