Federal 100: Jane Holl Lute

Jane Holl Lute
Deputy Secretary
Homeland Security Department

Jane Holl Lute's experience in war zone strategies and conflict resolution is serving her well as the top official for cybersecurity at DHS.

The former assistant secretary-general for peacebuilding support at the United Nations has also served on the National Security Council under two presidents. Now Lute is applying her remarkable leadership skills to one of the primary battles of our times: safeguarding cyberspace.

In 2010, she used her role as deputy secretary at DHS to champion the importance of cybersecurity as an essential homeland security issue, even making sure it was included as one of five mission areas for the department in the Quadrennial Homeland Security Review.
