Federal 100: Neil Bonner
Neil Bonner
IT Specialist
Transportation Security Administration
Homeland Security Department
The next time you're traveling and use your iPhone to check wait times for the security lines, you can thank Neil Bonner. He created the technical architecture for the My TSA app, which was the first iPhone application launched by DHS. It been downloaded by more than 200,000 travelers.
Apparently, innovation is second nature to Bonner. He also worked with two colleagues to develop TSA's IdeaFactory application to capture votes, ratings and comments on employee-submitted ideas for improving the agency.
In addition, he put together the technical platform for TSA’s public blog and integrated it into the agency’s Web content. And he got the job done in four weeks with no budget and using only internal resources.
