The work: Applying his company’s resources and his personal expertise to helping the federal government tackle some of its most complex IT challenges.
The impact: Under Grasso’s leadership, Mitre has invested heavily in developing new approaches to designing more secure systems. Grasso personally led studies on acquisition improvement and resilient system architectures.
The nuts and bolts: As part of his commitment to serving the public’s interest, Grasso has also taken leadership roles at numerous organizations, including the Defense Department’s Defense Science Board, the Strategic Command’s Cyber Strategic Advisory Group and AFCEA International. In early 2011, he was invited to testify before a Senate panel on the Obama administration’s plan for eliminating waste in IT spending.
Grasso is also the recipient of the 2012 Eagle Award for Industry. The Eagle winners – one from government and one from industry – are selected from among the winners of the Federal 100 award, which recognizes individuals who made a significant impact on federal IT. The 2012 Eagle winners were announced at the March 28 Federal 100 Awards Gala in Washington, D.C.
