North Korea blamed for freezing South Korean bank and TV station networks

Computers at the nation's key broadcasters and banks were completely paralyzed. At least three broadcasters -- KBS, MBC and YTN -- and two banks -- Shinhan Bank and Nonghyup -- reported their networks were halted for unknown reasons.

“Screens went blank at 2 p.m., with reports of skulls popping up on some computer screens, the state-run Korea Information Security Agency said – a strong indication that hackers planted a malicious code in South Korean systems,” AP reports.

Experts pinned the attack on Pyongyang. North and South Korea have been squaring off with each other ever since the implementation of sanctions meant to punish North Korea over a recent nuclear test.
