Hackers hit up card swipe machine at malls

Global fraud ring manipulated payment terminals to filch credit card details from tens of thousands of accounts. Europol and Romanian authorities confiscated electronic equipment, financial data, cloned cards, and cash while arresting 44 of the conspirators. The gang has been implanting card reading devices and malicious software on "point of sale" terminals in big shopping centers throughout Europe. After lifting the card numbers and PINs off cards, the crooks made counterfeits and conducted transactions in Argentina, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand and USA.
