Known crook swipes cops’ personal info from Danish police driver’s license system
Government (Foreign) // Government Contractor // Denmark
Hackers a year ago penetrated and might have altered both a law enforcement information-sharing system and Denmark’s police driving license database, Danish authorities have disclosed. The culprits obtained details about cops’ personal identity numbers and people posted as wanted in the Schengen Information System, a network shared by police in 26 European countries.
The crime allegedly occurred “in central computers at the CSC company,” a government contractor.
A Swedish national now jailed in Sweden is suspected of being involved. Denmark is applying for his extradition. A Danish man is also believed to have been involved in the compromise.
“This has been a serious breach of the IT security that there must be in connection with police registers,” said National Police Commissioner Jens Henrik Højberg in a news release.
