Syrian hacktivists plaster Qatar’s Web with pro-Assad propaganda

The infamous Syrian Electronic Army, believed responsible for taking down the New York Times and other high-profile websites, has set its sites on Qatar.
The pro-regime hacktivist group defaced and shuttered webpages carrying the.qa suffix, including important government portals, facebook.qa, google.com.qa, as well as several Qatar-based news sites.
The sites went down after the SEA broke into servers that control the country’s directory of Web addresses for the .qa domain.
“We had talk with Syrian Electronic Army. The hackers told EHN that they have gained access to the registry administration by hacking 'domains.qa' and decrypting the passwords and then they logged to their emails,” E Hacking News reports.
The Ministry of Interior said the episode did not affect its services and all online services were normal.
“The entire system is back to normal”, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology tweeted Saturday evening.
