Cyberthreat Defense Report sheds light on global cybersecurity measures
What: The 2014 Cyberthreat Defense Report, a detailed study of 763 IT security decision makers and practitioners from large organizations in 11 countries. The report was completed by CyberEdge Group LLC and sponsored by ForeScout and eight other information security companies.
Why: The Cyberthreat Defense Report is a highly detailed analysis of the current security postures, perceptions, concerns and future plans of large organizations across 19 industries.
Among the key highlights: 25 percent of survey participants doubt whether their organization has invested adequately in cyber-threat defenses; Europeans (82 percent) are more confident than North Americans (71 percent); 84 percent of represented organizations experienced five or fewer successful cyberattacks in the past year; 38 percent claimed they had not experienced a single successful attack, while 7 percent said they’d been successfully breached more than 10 times in the past year; network access control was perceived as the most effective security technology to defend against cyber-threats.
Verbatim: “Over 80 percent of respondents indicated that their organization’s computing environment was compromised five or fewer times in the past year – with nearly half of these claiming there were NO successful attacks over this period. Less encouraging, 7 percent of respondents indicated their organization was subject to 10 or more successful attacks over the past year.”
