He enabled the secure configuration of all government Windows-based desktop computers, increased the security of credit card transactions worldwide, and set up industry tools to effectively implement and monitor secure configurations. He was the key to NIST's role in moving the government's approach to security compliance from periodic analysis to continuous monitoring by expanding the use of automated tools and creating new opportunities for vendors.
