Authorities apprehend duo for hacking accounts of Ecuador’s president
Government (Foreign)
Rafael Correa, the country’s leader, had alleged in March 2014 that his Twitter account (@MashiRafael) was breached, blaming the assault on "extreme right" opponents.
Ecuador in 2013 also reported that Correa's email had been hacked.
“It was not clear if those arrested were being investigated for hacking his Twitter account, his email or both,” AFP reports.
The two people in custody are being probed for "having entered the president's accounts," according to Attorney General Galo Chiriboga.
They were arrested on May 28, 2014.
