Emails between patients and Catholic hospital system intercepted by hacker
Healthcare and Public Health // United States
Catholic Health Initiatives, a nonprofit medical system that operates in 18 states, filed a federal lawsuit requesting that Microsoft provide information about the affected accounts.
The unidentified hacker “was able to redirect a significant number of emails sent to doctors and staff from patients and laboratories,” KIRO TV reports.
The emails went to the hacker’s account instead.
The lawsuit also said the hacker gained control of domain names like catholichealth.net.
