Twitter execs’ personal data posted on ‘hidden’ Web
Social Media
The page where the Social Security numbers and other details were found was on a "darknet" site, used by Tor, an anonymous browsing network that is not searchable through engines like Google or Microsoft.
Researchers say the breach targeted Twitter co-founders' Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, and Noah Glass, plus current chief executive Dick Costolo. Their full SSNs, birthdates, previous postal addresses, and, in some cases, cell phone numbers were published.
“It's not clear where the data came from,” ZDNet reports. “At the top of the page it suggested the release of the information was in retaliation for suspending a number of accounts on the microblogging service.”
The data dump page read: "Twitter suspended @doxbin for 'excessive mentions' and then refused to provide any support via the ticket system for the account.”
