Data breaches are happening all over. Target , hotel chains , Neiman Marcus and even institutions such as the European Central Bank have all been attacked, resulting in compromised customer data.
2013 alone saw more than 600 data breaches, with an average organization cost of more than $5 million. But in the end, it's the customers who are picking up the tab, from higher retail costs to credit card reissue fees. The total damage is astounding.
