Financial Services
The Brightside Group, which maintains several motor insurance websites -- including eCar insurance, disclosed a breach of its security system.
No personal information was stolen, according to the company.
The eCar insurance site was taken offline as a precaution. Some customers were notified about the breach by email.
According to The Register, an email received by a customer of Asda Car Insurance, one of the affected sites, states the intruder “was able to access a small number of internal business records via our website.”
Brightside described the incident as “a perimeter security breach” of its information technology system.
