Ex-IT Manager Charged with Intercepting Company Email
Illinois, United States
A 50-year-old man is accused of breaking into an unnamed Northbrook-based firm’s computer network after he stopped working there and sending emails with confidential company financial information to outsiders.
Turner’s employment at the firm ended March 2014.
Beginning in April 2014, he allegedly breached the corporate email accounts of two company executives.
Turner later caused significant damage to the company's servers, according to prosecutors. And he is accused of sending emails that contained data stolen from the executives’ accounts, including payroll information, executive bonus details and company pricing schedules.
“This defendant used his skills to cause significant damage to his former employer, and illegally to obtain private information,” U.S. attorney Zachary Fardon alleged.
