Canadian Woman Allegedly Harassed Kids through Hacked Webcams, Showed Victims ‘Extreme Porn’
Valérie Gignac, of Quebec, allegedly took over people's computers remotely, to peer at them through their webcameras and bully them through the camera’s speakers.
The 27-year-old is believed to have created a botnet — or infected a series of computers with malware that turns them into zombie machines, commanding them to perform tasks without the owner's knowledge.
She allegedly listened in on private conversations, communicated with victims through their computer speakers and logged onto extreme pornography websites.
"She spoke with them, she interacted with them. She showed them some pornography on the screen just to see how they would react," said Const. Philippe Gravel of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Some of the targets allegedly included children in Canada and other countries.
Gignac's lawyer, Michel Leclerc, said described the incident as “just a bad prank.”
