Zoo Souvenir Buyers across America Might Have Been Hacked
Entertainment // United States
A company that handles gift shop payments at the Detroit Zoo, Houston Zoo and around ten other zoos suffered a data breach
Debit and credit card information, including customer names, expiration dates and three-digit CVV security numbers, was potentially compromised by the attack against the firm, Service Systems Associates.
According to KHOU, the Houston zoo recently discovered the credit card security breach.
According to CBS, the intrusion affected the Detroit park's six retail shops. But cards used for tickets, concession stands and membership sales were not impacted, due to the fact that they’re processed through a separate system. An investigation into the incident began after the zoos were contacted by police regarding stolen credit card information.
